NIS2: Don't underestimate preparation, build a team - it's worth it
The European NIS2 Directive, which was implemented into the Czech Cybersecurity Act (or rather, the ZoKB was harmonized with NIS2), is not something that can be dismissed with a one-time decision or “just like that” at the last minute.
Compared to the original NIS, the new directive brought with it a number of fundamental changes and obligations that will affect not only the IT department, but also the overall functioning of the organization. It is a process - long-term, well-thought-out and complex, so it is necessary to count on a certain time commitment. And what is the most important message for companies at this moment? That this is mainly a system that will have to be (legally) actually deployed in the organization!
Companies to which the new regulation will apply should already start considering specific steps to ensure compliance with the law and at the same time protect their digital environment. The key is to allocate responsible persons and create a working group that will manage the preparation and implementation of measures.
Inaction or postponement is not a suitable strategy. On the contrary – timely and systematic steps will allow you to respond to the requirements of the directive in a meaningful way, without unnecessary stress and chaos. Implementing NIS2 will require time, focus and involvement of the company’s management. It is better to be prepared than surprised – whether by a threat from cyberspace or sanctions from the state.
