Connectathon 2025

Connectathon Vienna 2025: eHealthOR passes international interoperability tests

In June, we participated in the prestigious European Connectathon 2025 event, which took place in Vienna this year. This event is organized annually by IHE-Europe (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) and serves as a meeting of experts, developers and healthcare companies from all over the world, who together test the interoperability of their systems - i.e. the ability of various software solutions to communicate with each other correctly and exchange healthcare data according to international standards.

Our company sent a team of 4 experts to Vienna with our key product eHealthOR, which primarily acted as a Document Registry - a central repository and search tool for healthcare documents within the electronic healthcare infrastructure.

We tested across key profiles

During the week, we ran a series of tests focused on standardized profiles that define how individual components of eHealth should communicate with each other. We focused on the following three profiles:

  • XDS.b (Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing) – enables sharing of medical documents between different information systems.
  • ATNA (Audit Trail and Node Authentication) – ensures secure connection and audit records.
  • MHD (Mobile access to Health Documents) – expands access to documents through modern web technologies and mobile devices.

We are pleased to announce that we have successfully completed testing of the XDS.b and ATNA profiles. In both cases, we have proven that eHealthOR complies with international standards and can seamlessly communicate with other systems in the eHealth ecosystem.

Public transport profile ready, but there was no time

We also successfully tested the MHD profile, which we are implementing in our system in full accordance with the specification, but not with the prescribed number of test partners. The reason was the limited time capacity of the other participants who were to play the role of test partners. Nevertheless, we received valuable feedback and are confident that we are on the right track to fully certify this profile at the next opportunity.

How Connectathon works?

Testing began on Monday, when the initial environment configuration, connection check to test systems and the first simple tests were carried out. From Tuesday, everything started in full swing – there was a lively bustle in the test hall, dozens of teams were discussing test scenarios, connecting with their partners and fulfilling defined use cases step by step. Our workplace was fully occupied until Friday, when testing was concluded and the process of evaluating the results began.

What Connectathon brought us?

Participation in the Connectathon was not just a formal test for us, but above all an opportunity to verify that our products work reliably in an international environment and that we are among the leaders in the field of healthcare interoperability in the Czech Republic. We established new partnerships, gained valuable knowledge and prepared the ground for further development of our solution.

At the same time, it has become clear that eHealthOR is ready to serve in practice as a robust and secure tool for sharing medical documentation - not only within national systems, but also in international projects.
